I think the very most important thing to learn here is to be kind and gentle with themselves and to do what works for them. It is all about accepting and just laughing at the weird things that may come up.

As you have found, it is a healing journey. I call my meditation "my healing time." It has helped me heal both mentally an physically. Great for you for continuing to find ways to find peace and healing in your life. Like so many other alternative things, it needs to be utilized more. It is something cheap, simple and empowering. Everyone could do it and awaken and calm their brain a little more...that would be be a great thing!Debbie Hamptonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14309781476253030113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-174126926852256192.post-42272722931804414582010-03-27T13:30:28.466-04:002010-03-27T13:30:28.466-04:00Hi Debbie,

I also believe that adding humming and music to meditation is a very powerful act. And, I can also see why it will help your speech impediment. Good for you! Keep going.

Meditation has brought much healing into my life, too. I was formerly on a fairly harsh drug to control my MS (have since changed meds), but used meditation to help deal with the anxiety and other side effects that the drugs were triggering. I still incorporate meditation in to my day every day. I really liked how you phrased it, "I am just amused by them and do not define myself by them."

Thanks for sharing another great post, Debbie.
Onwards and upwards!
:)Lori (JaneBeNimble)http://janebenimble.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-174126926852256192.post-41512665408432178802010-03-27T09:59:47.211-04:002010-03-27T09:59:47.211-04:00Great information. Science confirms through what is referred to as the EEG Mind Mirror (interesting name) that while in meditation, or deep involvement in any activity in which you lose yourself, the brain wave activity is referred to as the "Quiet" or "Awakened" mind state. This is where Beta (conscious thought) activity is very low, while alpha, thelta, and delta waves are noticably higher. This is in contrast to the "Monkey Mind" where Beta activity is high and the other frequencies are low. Keep eating granola and humming.
